We wish to appoint a Lecturer in Pure Mathematics within the School of Mathematics and Statistics. You will be a scholar with a growing international research reputation and commitment to delivering high quality teaching within the broad field of Pure Mathematics. The School would particularly welcome applications from candidates whose research lies in the area of Discrete or Algebraic Geometry, although our primary objective is to appoint an outstanding candidate, whatever their research area. The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of interests, to be active in research publication that strengthens or complements those in the School and to be capable of teaching Pure Mathematics to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds.
Candidates should hold a PhD in Pure Mathematics or a cognate discipline. Excellent teaching skills and an interest in promoting knowledge exchange are essential. You should also have some knowledge of grant seeking processes in relation to research councils and other sources.
For informal enquiries, we encourage those considering applying to contact the Head of School, Professor Mark Chaplain (firstname.lastname@example.org), the Deputy Head of School, Professor Ineke De Moortel (email@example.com) and/or Head of Pure Mathematics, Dr Martyn Quick (firstname.lastname@example.org) to discuss possibilities.
