Academical data

  • 2007 – 2010: Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering (with European mention) with the thesis titled “Mechanisms for Improving the Quality of Experience over IEEE 802.11 Networks”, under the supervision of Prof. Juan Manuel Lopez Soler.
  • 1995 – 2001: M.Sc. in Telecom Engineering from the University of Malaga, with specialities in Communications, Telematics and Electronics.
  • Advanced Studies Certificate in the Ph.D. Program “Electronic and Communications Technologies” from the University of Malaga, February 2006.

Professional experience

  • Since November 2006: Professor (November 2006 – October 2010: Assistant Professor; November 2010 – June 2014: Ph.D. Assistant Professor; July 2014 – November 2018: Associate Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor); from December 2018: Associate Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad) in the Telematics Engineering Area, within the Department of Signal Theory, Telematics and Communications from the University of Granada.
  • From August 2006 until November 2006: Radio Optimizer working in Siemens for the Amena (currently Orange) network deployment.
  • From July 2003 until June 2005: Senior Consultant in Optimi (acquired by Ericsson) developing different activities such as consultancy, application development and imparting trainings (Nokia Networks and Optimi trainings) to different mobile operators’ engineers (e.g. AWS, T-Mobile).
  • From November 2000 until June 2003: Project Engineer in Nokia Networks, in the IMN / RST / RST / NSR department within the Competence Team Center in Malaga (Spain), working in the GERAN RRM program (in the GERAN Data project). Also working in the standardization group WP20 in GERAN related standards.
