MPF

The name 'Multi-Phase Analysis Framework' refers to two different things: the original framework and the MPF toolbox, a former version of the current modelling core in the MVBatch toolbox for Matlab (https://github.com/jogonmar/MVBatch/) This toolbox is free software for its use in the MATLAB environment.

The original framework was developed during my PhD. This original framework is aimed at automatically identifying the appropriate way of arranging the data collected from a batch process in order to calibrate a model with Principal Component Analysis (PCA) or Partial Least Squares (PLS). This is one of the most important steps in batch process modelling for quality prediction and statistical monitoring. Over the years, we have improved the MPF with what we have learned about the limitations of the PCA and PLS modelling of batch processes.

Nevertheless, we have also learnt from experience that automatic algorithms cannot replace a good data analyst. In most chemometric applications, automatic algorithms are combined with graphical tools and it is the software user who has the last word. This is the reason why the MPF toolbox has been enhanced with additional visualization tools. With this set of tools, the MPF toolbox is a very complete software framework for batch data handling and analysis and process monitoring.
