Omics

Modern analytical methods are capable of identifying compounds at molecular level, generating new experimental data that are changing our understanding of biology, leading to a breakthrough in biological sciences. The omics areas of research (genomics and metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) combine this new data with suitable bioinformatics tools to produce new knowledge in molecular biology and, in turn, in other sciences, like health, evolution or history.

I am enthusiastic about the design of new bioinformatics tools that can make the most of omics data to improve our understanding of science. I find the connection of omics with precision medicine and ancient DNA especially motivating.
