Scientific Communication Program ConCiencia from Canal Sur. «Sleep Well, Eat Well»
Members of our research group have been interviewed by the television channel Canal Sur for the science communication program ConCiencia. There, they have spoken about their latest advances in their research on melatonin and its benefits for the prevention of obesity and diabetes focusing on thermogenic tissues (adipose and skeletal muscle) as a promising therapeutic target to combat this pandemic.

1st Seminar of the Neuroscientific Club of the Federico Oloriz Institute of Neurosciences 2025
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, our PhD student Diego Salagre Simón presented part of his research work in a talk entitled “Interorganellar signaling and communication in the circadian syndrome. Role of melatonin.”
The presentation was held in the Salón de Grados of the Biomedical Research Center (CIBM) at the University of Granada (UGR) as part of the 1st Seminar of the Neuroscientific Club of the Federico Oloriz Institute of Neurosciences. The talk was attended by professors, researchers, and students from the UGR’s Master’s Degree in Basic, Applied, and Pain Neurosciences.
3rd GRANAMET Meeting
On September 12th 2025, our research group attended and participated in the 3rd GranaMet meeting in Granada. The Granada Network of Translational Research in Metabolism (GRANAMET) is based on a translational approach that spans from the investigation of molecules and the cellular environment to clinical research, thus allowing to face great challenges in metabolic research. In the meeting, our PhD student Diego Salagre introduced the lines of research from our team and presented some of the results of his thesis. The title of his communication was: «Skeletal muscle non-shivering thermogenesis as a promising therapeutic target against diabesity. Role of Melatonin».

Melatonin protects against muscle damage and restores the proportion of fibers altered by obesity and diabetes, according to an University of
Granada study.
Members of our research group have published in media the latest results of the research project we are carrying out on the beneficial effects of melatonin in muscle damage prevention and fiber composition restoration in «Diabesity». To increase the global reach of this news and to be able top disseminate our results to the entire world society, we have translated the press release into several languages and you can access them by clicking on each of the versions indexed below:
