RESEARCH
We are a research group that has been studying the evaluation of new strategies in treating diabesity & its complications. Our main challenge is the application of bioactive agents such as melatonin & others in the medical field, especially diabesity in those situations involving increased oxidative stress, mitochondrial damage, and associated meta-inflammation.
We are interested and working in:
1.- Development of non-invasive, simple, and reliable methods to quantify thermogenesis and the participation coefficients of different tissues.
2.- Clarify the relevance of the components of MELATONIN & diet in thermogenesis and if they involve the MUSCLE.
3.- DEVELOPMENT OF EFFECTIVE AND SAFE THERMOGENIC DRUGS
4.- Go in depth with research in ZDF rats with melatonin
- Molecular mechanisms as a skeletal muscle thermogenesis inducer
- Clarify SERCA-Sarcolipin- uncoupling
- Cardio & Nephroprotective effects
5.- Proof of concept in humans
6.- Conducting observation studies in obese & T2DM patients
