He obtained his PhD in the University of Granada the past 9th of June, 2017. His PhD dissertation was entitled \u201cStructured generalization: Evolutionary dynamics at a fine spatial scale in a generalist system\u201d (\u201cGeneralizaci\u00f3n Estructurada: Din\u00e1mica Evolutiva a Escala Espacial Fina en un Sistema Generalista\u201d).<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-348 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_110642.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"716\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_110642.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_110642-300x179.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_110642-768x458.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_110642-1024x611.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Under the umbrella of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~fperfect\/index.php\/2015\/12\/27\/strugen\/\">Strugen project<\/a>, this thesis explores the hypothesis of the structured generalization, from its causes to its effects on the population genetic structure, using the generalist plant species\u00a0<em>Erysimum mediohispanicum<\/em>\u00a0(Brassicaceae) as a species model.<\/p>\n<p>In these studies,\u00a0we monitored a series of marked individuals in a natural population and in two experimental plots of this species in Sierra Nevada (Granada, Spain). For each individual plant, we characterized its phenotype and microenvironment and surveyed all plant interactions with its pollinators along the flowering season. Additionally, we genotyped each marked individual as well as a sample of their progeny. Finally, we characterized the effectiveness of pollination of the different functional groups visiting the flowers of\u00a0<em>E. mediohispanicum<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-349 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_115331.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"699\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_115331.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_115331-300x175.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_115331-768x447.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~evoflor\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_20170609_115331-1024x596.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We have demonstrated that phenotype and environment determine de individual generalization. We also show that, as a consequence, a biased pollen flow emerges influenced by the preferences and movements of the most effective pollinators. We inferred the effects of this processes in shaping the population spatial genetic structure.
