When a humanitarian crisis hits, medical supplies arrive fast. But what happens to the tonnes of plastic waste they leave behind?
On 4 November, our group has put this question to students in their last two years of high school, as part of Andalusia\u2019s Science Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They have discovered ANIPH\u2019s bio-based alternatives to fossil-based plastics, and the UGR team\u2019s own contribution: bioprinted, biodegradable wound dressings made from natural polymers and probiotic-functionalised bacterial cellulose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight? A live 3D-printing demo \ud83d\udd2c<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The activity has been conducted by Ana Gonz\u00e1lez and Pablo Alarc\u00f3n. As always, it was a pleasure bringing science closer to a young audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
