Members

Juan Gómez

Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence of Universidad de Granada. +20 years of research experience in the fields of Applied Machine Learning (e.g., energy optimization, decision-support in security, and disinformation analysis), Information Fusion, and Knowledge Representation. Part of more than 20 research projects in these areas, including the European projects COPKIT, ePOOLICE, Energy IN TIME, and IBERIFIER. Author of +60 scientific publications in journals and conferences.

Miguel Molina

Associate Professor at University of Granada and Honorary Research Fellow at Imperial College London. As a postdoc, he was awarded two Marie Curie Research Fellowships. His research experience comprises work in the areas of applied AI, with a particular interest in the Energy field. In addition to lecturing at University of Granada and Imperial College, he has authored more than 40 publications, participates in research projects (of European, national and regional scope) and consults for different companies.

Javier Cantón

PhD in Social Sciences (Universidad de Granada) and a degree in Sociology and Audiovisual Communication. Lecturer at the Universities of Granada (UGR), Jaén, UNIA, UOC, UI1, UNIR and Girona (UdG) on issues of inequality, communication, research techniques, information verification, visual thinking, cultural analytics and data visualization. Expert in social networks (SNA), data analysis and visualization. He has been a web journalist at RTVE.es (Spanish public broadcasting corporation), within VerificaRTVE (unit that fights against disinformation). He is currently working on disinformation and artificial intelligence.

PhD students

Javier Jiménez

Physicist (Universidad Complutense de Madrid) and Master in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning (Universidad de Alcalá). Working as a data scientist for +5 years. His main research interest is using deep reinforcement learning for energy efficiency of building operations. Also involved in using NLP for Alzheimer's detection, physics-informed neural networks and responsible AI.

Alejandro Campoy

Computer Engineer and Data Scientist (Universidad de Granada), working in artificial intelligence. Lead maintainer of Sinergym. His research involves using deep reinforcement learning to optimize buildings control and energy efficiency.

Antonio Manjavacas

Computer Engineer (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha) and Data Scientist (Universidad de Granada). PhD fellow as part of the IFMIF-DONES project (International Fusion Materials Irradiation Facility - DEMO-Oriented Neutron Source). Interested in building simulations and applied control optimization.

Ahmed Brek

Computer Engineer and Data Scientist (Universidad de Granada). Interested in deep reinforcement learning and its application to building energy control.

Yacine Brek

Computer Engineer and Data Scientist (Universidad de Granada). Interested in deep reinforcement learning applied to smart grids and building energy management.
