{"id":1131,"date":"2023-09-19T08:40:52","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T08:40:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/?p=1131"},"modified":"2023-11-28T14:58:27","modified_gmt":"2023-11-28T14:58:27","slug":"ierasg-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/2023\/ierasg-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"XXVIII-IERASG Symposium, Cologne (Germany)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We have attended the <a href=\"https:\/\/ierasg23.com\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/ierasg23.com\/#\/program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">XXVIII International Evoked Response Audiometry Study Group (IERASG) Biennial Symposium<\/a>, in Cologne (Germany) from the 15th to the 19th of September, 2023.<br><br><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/ierasg.org\/about-us\/words-from-chair\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/ierasg.org\/about-us\/words-from-chair\/\" target=\"_blank\">IERASG<\/a> is a society that provides an open forum to advance global understanding and practice in the field of evoked responses. IERASG meets once every two years at the Biennial Symposium, and is an affiliate member of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/isa-audiology.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/isa-audiology.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">International Society of Audiology<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"615\" src=\"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IERASG2023_Group-1024x615.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1152\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IERASG2023_Group-1024x615.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IERASG2023_Group-300x180.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IERASG2023_Group-768x462.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IERASG2023_Group-1536x923.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IERASG2023_Group-2048x1231.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IERASG2023_Group-1568x942.jpg 1568w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>At the IERASG-2023 symposium, we presented two contributions about signal-processing methods that enable deconvolution of overlapping auditory evoked responses, and one additional presentation that involved a live demonstration of a flexible, robust, and inexpensive system for recording auditory evoked potentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-huge-font-size\">Contributions<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-large-font-size\" id=\"MultiResp-Deconv\" style=\"color:#5b5b5b\">1. Multi-response deconvolution<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/angel-de-la-torre-vega\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"184\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Prof \u00c1ngel de la Torre<\/a> presented the fundamentals of multi-response deconvolution, i.e., a signal-processing algorithm that provides the least-squares estimation of multiple categories of deconvolved auditory evoked potentials. <br><br>Importantly, deconvolution can be performed in the reduced representation space defined by &#8216;latency-dependent filtering and downsampling&#8217; (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/SignalProcessingAudiology\/delaTorre_JASA2020\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/github.com\/SignalProcessingAudiology\/delaTorre_JASA2020\" target=\"_blank\">de la Torre et al., 2020<\/a>). This reduces processing time significantly, and makes deconvolution feasible when long-duration responses and\/or several categories are considered.<br><br>Multi-response deconvolution provides researchers and clinicians with a tool to analyse auditory evoked potentials with great flexibility, and holds potential to advance knowledge in hearing neuroscience. <br><br>A scientific paper describing this method is currently under review. Deconvolution overview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/joaquin-tomas-valderrama-valenzuela\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"378\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr Joaqu\u00edn T. Live demonstration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/wpd.ugr.es\/~sig.proc.audiology\/angel-de-la-torre-vega\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"184\" target=\"_blank\">Prof \u00c1ngel de la Torre<\/a> performed a live demonstration of a portable, inexpensive, and robust auditory evoked potentials recording system mostly based on consumer electronics. This session was conducted at the conference room, whereas auditory brainstem and middle latency evoked potentials were simultaneously recorded using clicks at an average rate of 44.4 Hz.<br><br>The abstract, presentation slides and text describing the slides are available on the links below.
