I’m currently Full Professor (Prof. Catedrático de Universidad) at the Dept. of Computer Science and AI, Universidad de Granada, Spain. I obtained a Computer Science degree (1998) from the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina and a Phd (2002) from the Universidad de Granada, Spain.
I’m a member of the Models of Decision and Optimization Research Group (MODO), where I conduct research on the application of computational intelligence techniques for better solving problems in the current social and technological contexts. Among my areas of research are: optimization (mainly metaheuristics and cooperative strategies), decision making, route personalization and design problems and so on.
I’m actively involved in research projects funded by different organizations (Spanish Government, Andalusian Government, etc.). I have published more than 50 journal papers, co-edited ten books and several special issues on relevant journals. I’ve advised ten Phd thesis and several master’s thesis.
