A recent article by Merche Molina on seed dispersal by magpies has been highlighted by CanalUGR. In the article, published in Journal of Ecology (https://besjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/1365-2745.14004), it is shown how the differences in the behaviour of magpies regarding where and how they cache seeds have consequences for the stablishement of seedlings in an agroforestal mediterranean environment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CectfJa1-4I

testing news We have also organized a workshop with high school students in which we explained the functioning of natural selection using the example of egg patterning in birds. This was held within the 2021 Week of Science in the Science Faculty of Granada.

Future Researchers Training Our research work is also the first contact with research for many biology students. We regularly supervise Master and Degree students that carry out their final projects by participating in experiments or data analyses of some of our projects´objectives.  Also, we frequently accept internships by Biology’s Degree students with an interest on research. This is part of our Department´s activities to promote the early initiation of students in research. Internal students help us in many different aspects of our work and become familiar with “hands on” work on research

EUROPEAN RESEARCHERS NIGHT Our research group has participated in several outreach activities during the last years.
