Research group at the University of Granada, Spain:
Study and Conservation of construction materials of the Architectural Heritage

 The research group is part of the Department of Mineralogy and Petrology located at the Science Faculty of the University of Granada.

Since its creation in 1988, the group has been working on the study of the characteristics and properties of construction materials constituting historic buildings. Studies have been performed in the laboratory as well as in situ, and included the analysis of factors and mechanisms causing deterioration, as well as the development of techniques and methodologies for the conservation of the Architectural Heritage.

The research group is also collaborating with professionals entrusted with the conservation of historic buildings, conducting examinations previous to and during the intervention, as well as the scientific follow-up.
