Support Program of IMAG for 2024

Within the activities of the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Granada and partially funded by UGR through Scientific Unit of Excellence of the institute, a call for grants for the development of research activities at the Institute during 2024 is made public.

Support for the organization of meetings / workshops

This program partially funds proposed workshops that will explore new directions in research or emerging research fields with potential impact on different research groups of the institute.

  • The workshops will be held before December 31st, 2024. The institute will support the activity with a budget of up to 1000€ per workshop.
  • The deadline for applications is November 1st, 2024.
  • Applications will be evaluated by a sub-Commision of the Research Commision following the incoming order, up to reaching the total available amount.

Requirements
All applications must include:

  • A detailed proposal including scientific objectives, organization and budget, with a clear description of the activities to be financed by the institute.
  • A provisional program, including the list of invited speakers and the starting and finishing dates of the meeting.
  • CVs of the members of the institute organizing the activity.

Selection criteria

  • Suitability of the principal applicants to convene the workshop (CV, list of their publications and/or knowledge transfer).
  • Scientific quality of the proposed workshop.
  • Benefits for different research groups of IMAG.
  • Potential for initiating follow-up research activities and/or developing future collaborative actions within the frame of the institute.
  • Scientific relevance of the invited speakers.

In case of support

  • The workshop must take place before December 31st, 2024.
  • The meeting should be clearly identified as partially supported by IMAG, in particular by inclusion of its logo in any advertisements, posters, websites, abstracts, proceedings, etc. Additional support from other organizations could also be acknowledged.
  • A concise report of the scientific output of the workshop, as well as a financial report on the workshop expenditure must be submitted within one month after the event to of the email addresses imag@ugr.es or tperez@ugr.es.

Support for seminars

This program partially funds proposed seminars / talks workshops of high international level.

  • Seminars / Talks will be held up to December 31st 2024, at IMAG.
  • The institute will support with up to 200€ per talk.
  • The deadline for applications is November 15th, 2024.
  • Applications will be evaluated by a sub-Commision of the Research Commision
    following the incoming order, up to reaching the total available amount.

Requirements
Visiting researchers must be prestigious experts of high international level. Their capability of leading international research initiatives or research centers will be specially considered. As a general rule, lecturers must be senior researchers with at least ten years of expertise after their PhD degree.

Selection criteria

  • CV of the lecturer. Different prestige indicators will be considered, such as relevant publications, international research initiatives, leading of internationally established institutes or research groups, etc.
  • CV of the IMAG host researcher.

Support for visits of young talented researchers

The aim of this program is to encourage effective collaborations between host researchers currently at IMAG and young talented researchers (PhD students or postdoctoral researchers with no more than ten years after PhD) visiting the institute.

  • Visits will have a duration of between 1 and 6 months. The stay must start before December 31, 2024.
  • The institute will support each stay with a total budget of up to 1000€, subject to available resources.
  • The deadline for applications is November 1st, 2024.
  • Applications will be evaluated by a sub-Commision of the Research Commision following the incoming order, up to reaching the total available amount.

Requirements
All visitor candidates must:

  • Start their stay at the institute no more than ten years after having completed their PhD.
  • Have carried out their previous work in an institution other than the University of Granada for 24 months or longer before visiting the institute.
  • Present an invitation letter signed by a member of our institute.
  • Write a proposal (one page) about the joint research project to be carried out at IMAG.

Selection criteria

  • CV of the applicant, including list of publications and/or knowledge transfer.
  • Scientific quality of the proposed project.
  • CV of the host researcher (member of the institute).

In case of support

Applicants who get support must:

  • Give a talk within 1 month after their arrival to the institute.
  • Acknowledge financial support by the institute in the publications derived from the work done here.
  • Send a short report regarding the work done during their stay at IMAG within a period no longer than a month after it. In this report they should explicitly mention (potential) publications.
