The Italian National Academy, Academia Nazionale dei Lincei, has awarded the 2024 international prize Luigi Tartufari in Mathematics, Mechanics and Applications to José Antonio Carrillo. The ceremony took place in Rome on November 7, 2024, where the Academy awarded one prize in each of several scientific disciplines. As described in the laudatio, the prize was awarded due to his remarkable results in several areas, among which they highlight kinetic theory, population dynamics, and gradient flows. The official announcement points out that from the methodological point of view, José Antonio has used several innovative mathematical techniques. His scientific production is impressive, and he has had an important impact in the community.
José Antonio is a member, long-time collaborator, and part of the board of the Institute of Mathematics. We would like to congratulate him on this prize, and hope to continue doing so in future occasions.
