Overdetermined elliptic problems in nontrivial simply connected domains of the sphere

Abstract: In this talk, we present the existence of nontrivial simply connected domains of the sphere such that the overdetermined elliptic problem admits a positive solution by a local bifurcation argument. This shows in particular that Serrin's theorem for overdetermined problems in the Euclidean space cannot be generalized to the sphere even for simply connected domains.
