Higher index minimal surfaces and doublings

Abstract: I will describe some new constructions of minimal surfaces in Riemamnian manifolds that have controlled topological type and Morse index 2. As a consequence, I'll show how one can obtain doublings of certain minimal hypersurfaces using variational methods.
