The BRAVOSEIS project is going to use instrumentation that will be installed on land and sea for one or two years.

Ocean-Bottom Seismometer, OBS

The OBS stations comes from different sources. Twelve of them will be broadband OBS stations equiped with a Trillium compact seismometer, a HighTechInc HTI-04-PCA/ULF hydrophone and a 32 bits K.U.M. datalogger. These instruments will be provided by Alfred-Wegener-Institut Helmholtz-Zentrum für Polar- und Meeresforschung, AWI.

The Marine Technological Unity, UTM, will provide nine short-period OBS stations that will record shorts and local earthquakes. The instruments will be the LC SP 4×4 IGPP-SIO-UCSD with a hydrophone HighTech HTI-90-U and geophone Sercel L28.

Trillium Compact Seismometer

Trillium Compact is a small broadband seismometer with less than 13 centimeters of high that do not require a mass block for transport.

Designed by nanometric, it allow us to record strong events near to the source of the earthquake. It is a low energetic consumption and waterproof seismometer with a sensitivity that let us determine the signal noise at high frequencies.

The Centaur are seismic recorder with an easy management interface that let us simplify the station and seismic nets deployment, both in a local and a remote way. These are instruments has a low energetic consumption and also has the possibility to expand the solid-state memory.

Data cube3 recorder

Digital recorder developed by GFZ Postdam and produced by DiGOS. This instrument have the task of record the data produced by the seismometer. It has a small size with a working temperature amplitude from -40 to 60 Celsius, what make it perfect to be used at Antarctica. Something to take into account is that it is an instrument with a low power consumption and a good IP protection.
