The Institute of Mathematics of the University of Granada (IMAG) and the National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS) of South Korea have established a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening scientific collaboration and promoting the exchange of researchers between both institutions. NIMS, based in Daejeon, is one of South Korea’s leading research institutions in the mathematical sciences.
The agreement was highlighted during a visit to IMAG on 2 September by a delegation from NIMS, led by its President, Yun Sung Choi. During the visit, the NIMS delegation met with researchers from IMAG to present their respective research activities and discuss the areas covered by the new collaboration.
The agreement provides a framework for a range of joint activities, including the exchange of predoctoral and postdoctoral researchers, the organisation of conferences, workshops and seminars, and the development of joint research projects. Through these initiatives, IMAG and NIMS will foster closer interaction between their research communities, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise, and encourage the development of new collaborative projects in the mathematical sciences.
The new partnership with NIMS further expands IMAG’s international network, creating a solid framework for long-term scientific cooperation between researchers in Granada and South Korea and opening new opportunities for joint research, researcher mobility and the organisation of international mathematical activities.
