The University of Granada leads the Shanghai and Stanford mathematics rankings in Spain

The University of Granada has climbed one step higher in the “Shanghai Mathematics Ranking” since last year, remaining the sole leader in the national ranking. Specifically, the recently published ranking places the UGR in the 51st-75th position among the 500 universities surveyed worldwide.

The next highest universities of Spain in the ranking are the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​the University of Barcelona, ​​and the Complutense University of Madrid, all of which have also risen since last year, and are now in the next position, 76th-101st.

Furthermore, the UGR leads Spain in the number of researchers in the “World’s Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University” in Mathematics. This study includes the 2% of scientists whose work has been most influential worldwide. Granada, with 8 researchers: D. Ruiz, M. Sánchez, A. Romero, R. López, W.H. Meeks, P.J. Torres, Rafael Ortega, and Nicola Bellomo, is in the first place. It is followed by the University of Catalonia with 6 researchers, and the University of Seville, University of Madrid, University of Barcelona, ​​and University of Zaragoza with 4 each.
