Javier Rodríguez Alcázar is Doctor in Philosophy and Associate Professor-tenured of Moral Philosophy at the University of Granada. He has been a visiting researcher at Washington University (San Luis, USA), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a postdoc researcher at the University of Oxford. He was the editor of the Eirene Collection (University of Granada) and the journal Revista de Paz y Conflictos. He has been also the Secretary of the Instituto de la Paz y los Conflictos, the Secretary and Head of the Department of Philosophy I and a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Development Cooperation Initiatives (CICODE) of the University of Granada.

He won the Premio Jaén with his novel El escolar brillante, published by Random House-Mondadori. He has participated in a number of research projects. He has been the PI of an Excellence Project of the Junta de Andalucía on scientific, legal and philosophical aspects in the obtaining and use of stem cells. He is the manager of the research group PAIDI "Ética, política y conflictos contemporáneos" (Hum-828).
