Topic: Argumentation theorists find it natural to speak of acts of arguing and speech-acts of arguing. An account of argumentation as a speech-act is meant to be of help, if not fundamental, for the analysis and appraisal of argumentative discourse and dialogue, which is argumentation theory’s main goal.
